Step 1: Check the Printer’s Power Status

  • Please make sure the printer is turned on and the lights on the upper left side are illuminated.
  • If the lights are off, restart the printer using the power switch on the right side (turn it off, then on again).



Step 2: Restart Square and the iPad

  • Refresh the Restaurant app in Orders (press with one finger and slide down until you see a loading circle. Once the circle appears, stop pressing, and the app will refresh) and try printing again.




  • If the issue persists, restart the iPad, reopen the Square Restaurant app, and attempt to print again. 
  • Note: You might need to restart the iPad multiple times for the orders to start printing.


Step 3: Print a Self-Test to Get the Printer’s IP Address ( For Connectivity Issues)

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Hold the FEED button located on the upper left side (refer to the image in step 1), and turn the printer back on.
  • Keep holding FEED until it prints a receipt.
  • Find the IP Address on the receipt (e.g., 192.168.1.100).


Step 4: Ensure the iPad and Printer Are on the Same Network

  • On your iPad, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  • Tap the connected Wi-Fi (Carey IoT) and check the IP Address (e.g., 192.168.1.150).
  • The first three sets of numbers in the IP address should match the printer’s IP (e.g., both should start with 192.168.1.xxx).
  • If the iPad is on a different network, reconnect it to the same router as the printer.



Step 3: Add the Printer to Square Restaurant (For Hardware Issues)

  • Open the Square Restaurant app (refer to Image in step 2)
  • Tap More (☰) > Settings > Hardware > Printers.
  • Remove any old or unreachable printers.
  • To remove a printer: Move to Profiles and click on the printer you want to remove.
  • Click Delete Profile. Go back to Printers, it should no longer be assigned to any categories or roles (e.g., Online, Kiosk).



  • Add the Printer by clicking on Connect Printer (refer to the image above).
  • If you need to create a profile again: Go to Profiles and click Create Profile. Name the profile Carey POS. Choose the option Online and Kiosk Order Tickets. Tap SaveYou can now link the printer to the profile.



  • Select Ethernet Printer and enter the printer’s IP Address from Step 3.
  • Tap Save, then print a test receipt to confirm the connection.
